Molly’s Room- Fairview Community Workshop

From Jeff Daly- “At the armory behind the music, lights, and excitement of skate night at the Astoria Armory is a quieter place called Molly’s Room.  Named for my sister Molly, who was taken from our Astoria home at age 3 and institutionalized because of a disability, it is a calm space for children who may become overwhelmed by the noise and activity. Filled with beanbags, sensory toys, and a window looking out to the skating floor, it allows every family to enjoy the Armory together.”

“I found Molly again in 2004 after 47 years apart. Today, I think if she were growing up now, she would not have been sent away. She would have been here.  Molly’s Room is our way of making sure every child has a place at the Armory.”
